Before your first visit to our practice

Before your first appointment with Dr Du Raan, you will need to complete a couple of forms and either submit them before arriving at our practice or have them ready for our receptionist upon your arrival.
Either print these forms and fill them out or, alternatively, complete our online form and submit directly to us.

STEP ONE

Initial Examination

During our first meeting, you will be able to indicate why you feel you need braces and express your desires as to how you want your smile or bite to improve.

Dr Du Raan will conduct an examination to determine if treatment is indicated at this stage and give possible treatment options available.

There will be opportunity for a preliminary discussion as to the different options, but no final treatment plan can be made until the diagnostic records have been taken and analysed by Dr Du Raan.

After the Initial Examination, Dr du Raan will send out a preliminary quote for the diagnostic records and expected treatment plan. This may however be adjusted slightly depending on the analysis of the diagnostic records.

STEP TWO

Diagnostic Records

Once it has been determined that you are ready for orthodontic treatment and you have indicated the desire to proceed with further treatment, diagnostic records will be taken. These usually include study models (plaster casts) of the upper and lower teeth, photographs of your teeth and face, and radiographs.

Dr du Raan will use these records to study your growth, teeth and jaws and carefully determine a treatment plan to obtain the smile and occlusion you
deserve.

A final quote for the treatment recommended, as well as alternatives, will be sent to you. These alternatives will be discussed during the Treatment Plan discussion. The quote, along with the diagnostic records can be used by you to obtain authorization from the medical aid.

STEP THREE

Treatment Plan Discussion

During this visit which can be in person or via a digital meeting, the different treatment options will be discussed. You will be shown examples of the types of braces needed to create your beautiful smile.

Information from the diagnostic records will be discussed and any question you may have will be addressed.

It is important for the parent/s (in case of minors) and person to be treated to be present during this visit because not only the treatment options but also the treatment fee and duration will be discussed.

There are no fees for this visit.
